The download on journaling

Journaling is an amazing tool. I was a fair weathered journaler my whole life until I realized that journaling wasn’t about my recounting the facts of my day or bad date. Instead, my journal was my space to really let go and release whatever was on my mind. By releasing our conscious and subconscious thoughts and noise, we make space for the brilliant, creative, joy-filled thoughts that are eager to fill our lives. Think of your journal as a blank canvas to write, draw, list or scribble whatever comes up for you. If you feel like you need a bit more structure, here are some prompts. I recommend journaling at least 10 minutes every day. Even if you don’t think you have anything to write, open to a blank page and give yourself two minutes. See what comes!

Here are some prompts to get you started!

Prompts

  • Joy Journal: Write 5 things that bring you joy at the end of each day

  • Gratitude Journal: Write 5 things that you are grateful for each day. I like to do this in the morning or in combination with my joy journal!

  • What’s one thought that has been getting the best of you lately?  How has it been influencing your behavior?

  • What do you appreciate most about your life right now?  Why?

  • What’s the next step you’ve been thinking about taking, for far too long?

  • How have you stretched your comfort zone in the past month (even slightly)?  What did you learn from this experience? What’s one new comfort zone challenge you’d like to conquer?

  • What’s something you often take too personally even though, logically, you know better?  How has this affected your life?

  • What has your inner voice been trying to tell you lately?  What does it mean?

  • What does a new beginning mean to you right now?  What is the first thing you will do with it?

  • Who or what do I need to forgive today?"

  • What do I love most about myself today?

  • How do you feel about money today?

  • How would you like to feel about money?

  • What is your biggest fear in relation to money?

  • What would you do if you could not fail?

  • How are you limiting yourself?
